For both part-time work now and exciting jobs during the summer festival season, students wanting to get valuable career experience and good references are invited to become part-time security guards, usually working evenings and weekends and then various festivals in summer. The State of Oregon requires security guards to pass a 12-hour course and a criminal background check. The course will be given most days in March 2014, with preference given to PSU students on Thursdays. The government fees are $135, and the class fees are $100, for a total of $235.
