Debates featuring candidates running for student body president and vice president will be held today, kicking off a debate series with ASPSU candidates that will last until next week.
The PSU Debate Team will moderate the ASPSU candidate debates, and representatives from student publications, including the Vanguard, The Rearguard and possibly The Portland Spectator, will ask questions of the candidates. There will also be a chance for students to question the student government hopefuls.
The debates will run from noon to 2 p.m. in Parkway North (SMSU 101) and will feature presidential candidate Hannah Fisher and her running mate Kyle Cady, as well as the other presidential candidate, Christian Aniciete, and his running mate Karla Hernandez.
“These debates are going to shape the student elections–what issues are going to be important,” said Kyle Curtis, chair of the Elections Board.
Online-only voting for the ASPSU elections will begin Sunday, April 20 and end Saturday, April 26. Students can vote through www.banweb.pdx.edu.
