Attorney General John Kroger visits campus today at 11:30 a.m.

Just three days after being sworn in as Oregon’s 16th attorney general, John Kroger will visit Portland State to announce his legislative agenda for 2009.

Kroger’s address will take place on the second floor of Portland State’s Urban Center Building at 11:30 a.m., and will be his first significant public policy speech since being sworn in as attorney general.

“John wants to get out and around the state as much as possible,” said Tony Green, communications director for Kroger.

Green added that Kroger chose to visit Portland State because of the high concentration of young people and that he finds it important to speak with as many groups around Oregon as possible.

Back in last November’s election, Kroger, a Democrat, notched a landslide victory over minor-party opponents J. Ashlee Albies, Walt Brown and James E. Leuenberger, capturing over 80 percent of the vote.

Kroger is an award-winning criminal prosecutor, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and has taught law at Lewis and Clark for six years.
