So too does Murder Mystery sound a cut above any self-aware act, with its blues-tinged stripped-down half-Beach Boys, half-Buddy Holly style.
Discrimination lawsuit may go to trial by 2009
The lawsuit filed by Douglas Samuels, the former PSU administrator who claims he was discriminated against while working at the university, may go to trial by 2009, according to PSU’s legal counsel.

A new bill in the state legislature, Senate Bill 2 declares that discrimination by an employment agency on the basis of sexual orientation is unlawful and entitles an employee who brings a discrimination case to court the possibility of full compensation.
Former students accused of bank fraud
Three former Portland State students–two of whom played football for the Vikings in 2006–have been charged with bank fraud by the U.S. Attorney’s office under allegations that they methodically weaned $100,000 from two corporate banks over the course of a year and a half.

This album is a predictable foray into the chasm of indie-rock that’s listenable and little more. Nothing about this album breaks new ground nor grabs a listener’s ear. Save the Scene is a fine soundtrack for nights spent cruising Hawthorne with your pals who sport Sufjan Stevens or Coconut Records T-shirts as you smoke hand-rolled Bali Shags.
