For the second time in 10 years, Michael Reardon has come out of semi-retirement to temporarily fill a top spot at Portland State, this time taking over as university interim president on June 15.

Rudy Soto’s first move? An $8,000 office remodel

After a prolonged and contentious election cycle, the arrest of an elections board member and a rash of student criticism of the administration, new student body president Rudy Soto said he wants to clean up the reputation of ASPSU. Soto’s first plan of action? A $8,336 facelift for the offices of the Associated Students of Portland State University (ASPSU)–a sum that includes over $2,000 for office furniture and nearly $4,000 in electronics.

State legislature approves $870 mil. OUS budget

Oregon’s seven public universities got a big break last week: the Oregon Legislature approved the most generous Oregon University System budget in years, easing the financial burden on students and allowing campuses to start repairs that have long gone unfunded.

Tuition, fees could increase up to 10 percent

Tuition and fees at Portland State could increase by as much as $184 per term next year, a rise of more than 10 percent for undergraduate resident students, if the Oregon University System (OUS) approves proposed rates at their monthly meeting on Friday.
