Give the gift of time

Get involved this holiday season by volunteering for those in need

For many in our community, the holidays are not a festive time of year but a period of deep anxiety and distress. Thankfully, there are many resources for those people in need of a little help this season. But with the higher demand during these frigid winter months, many of the organizations that provide essential services to the disadvantaged become overwhelmed. These organizations rely on the time and effort of volunteers and can always use an extra helping hand.

Get back to nature with the Outdoor Program

Several excursions slated for November

The agenda in the coming weeks includes whitewater kayaking, a Columbia Gorge day hike, a service trip to Opal Creek, a three-day rock climbing seminar and a weekend camping trip at Silver Falls. It’s a tremendous opportunity for students and community members alike to enjoy the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest at an affordable rate.

Promote a healthy lifestyle

Women’s X classes build a community of women through activity

Portland State has implemented a series of women-only Group X classes this fall at the Academic and Student Rec Center. This comes as a result of high demand from students in prior terms. The new classes supplement the regularly scheduled classes, adding some extra options for women who would like to participate.

Get out of the city this fall
