With three games on the slate this weekend, the Portland State men’s basketball team will begin their season by playing three outstanding squads in games against Belmont, Wright State and No. 14-ranked Washington.

Last home stand

The Portland State women’s volleyball team faces one of their toughest challenges of the season heading into the weekend. Hosting Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado on back-to-back nights for their last home games of the season will test the Vikings’ physical conditioning, as well as their mental fortitude.

Riding the superb play of senior outside hitter Whitney Phillips, who had her best performance as a Viking on Friday, the Portland State women’s volleyball team demonstrated why they should be considered the top-ranked team in the Big Sky Conference this year.

After last week’s long two-game road trip, the women’s volleyball team prepares for the Eastern Washington Eagles to glide into the Park Blocks tonight for a decisive matchup that is likely to determine how the Big Sky Conference standings look at the end of the season.

Portland State’s basketball squad had a lot of questions to answer in the wake of former head coach Ken Bone leaving for Washington State, star player Jeremiah Dominguez’s graduation and the departures of Kyle Coston and Tyrell Mara.

Sweeping in

The Portland State volleyball team is headed to Montana today for a two-game road trip that will take them from Missoula to Bozeman in two days. In their last back-to-back road trip of the season, the Vikings look to pull ahead of the Big Sky pack.

Surging

In an awesome display of offense, the Vikings turned up the pressure on two opposing defenses in the South Park Blocks over the weekend.
