Tell the developers over at Nintendo that they’ve finally outdone themselves. Link, one of the most recognizable video game heroes of all time, is back for yet another romp through Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. He’s once again fighting to restore order to the land as he seeks out his perpetually distressed damsel Princess Zelda.

Month of no pay costs SFC one member
Student Fee Committee member Angela Leonardo quit her job during the first week of budget deliberations, and her exit could affect the quorum status of the committee. The Student Fee Committee (SFC) is charged with allocating almost $10 million in student fees to Portland State’s close to 100 student groups, including athletics and the Vanguard.
Veterans group eases transition into college
John O’Connor is currently serving with the United States Air Force, but wants to start college full time as soon as he can. Over the past two years in the Air Force, the 21-year-old has become acquainted with the life of an airman. “I must serve until 2011, and I don’t know if I will go longer,” said O’Connor, a Portland native.
University to bill rent to PSU accounts
Rent and other fees associated with housing will be directly billed to students’ university accounts starting March 1, when Portland State assumes control of the on-campus student housing from College Housing Northwest. Rent will appear on each student’s PSU account alongside tuition and fees when Portland State assumes control of the on-campus buildings.

PSU switches gas provider, saves money
Portland State has saved money by switching its natural gas provider for the primary campus loop from Northwest Natural Gas Co. to a subsidiary of British Petroleum in October 2006. PSU has a three-year contract with IGI Resources-a subsidiary of British Petroleum located in Vancouver, Wash.
METAL GEAR SOLID: Portable Ops
Fans of the Metal Gear series, prepare thyself. It’s been a while since a game in the series has been released that was in canon with the main series, and the recent release of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (MPO) is the first time we’re treated to what’s been going on in Snake’s world.
Summer tuition increases by $26
Portland State summer term students will see a 1.8 percent tuition increase over last year for this coming summer. The State Board of Higher Education approved the tuition increases at the Jan. 5 board meeting, raising tuition at an average of 3.4 percent.

Trans fat bans grow, one eatery holds out
After the reduction of trans fat use in cities like New York, Portland is following the trend and working to become trans fat free, but some restaurants are holding out. Original Halibut’s in Northeast Portland still uses trans fats-cooking oils or shortening that have been partially hydrogenated to increase shelf life of foods.
