When you’re talking about flight games, they generally fall into one of three categories: hardcore flight simulators with ultra-realistic physics, arcade dog fighting games with streamlined physics and controls and horizontal or vertical shooters.

Bare knuckle brawl

Capcom is one Japanese developer that gets nostalgia. Whether it’s throwing in classic franchise characters together in games like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom or the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3, or purposefully “de-making” new eight-bit games like Mega Man 10, it’s always a company with fan service on the brain.

Galactic strategy

Space is not an uncommon setting for a video game, although few games really capture the spirit of adventure and exploration such environs arguably demand.

Outside of a few notable exceptions, kart racer games are generally little more than a quick cash-in on the popularity of recognizable video game characters, and more often than not, suffer from low quality because of it.

Wii-owning point-and-click fans, rejoice—Sam & Max have returned to Nintendo’s little white box for another round of insane adventures. Following the somewhat sketchy release of Sam & Max: Season One on the Wii back in 2007, I wasn’t at all sure that Season Two, or Beyond Time and Space, as it’s known, would be making the trip.

DLC, or downloadable content, has changed the way games are made. In the days before consoles had online capabilities out of the box, if there were parts of a game that ended up getting cut in order to keep the production schedule, they would never see the light day.
