PSU President Daniel Bernstine has withdrawn his bid for president of West Virginia University (WVU) one week before a decision was to be made.
Bernstine, one of three finalists for the position, informed WVU Thursday that he would no longer like to be considered for the job. He was the only candidate currently serving as a university president in the running.
According to a press release from WVU Board of Governors Chairman Steve Goodwin, Bernstine declined the position because it was “not the right fit for him at this time.”
“We’re certainly disappointed because he was an outstanding candidate,” Goodwin said in the release.
Bernstine visited WVU for interviews last week. He was unavailable at press time.
