Although all these bars are great, we rated them on a scale of 1-4 based on location, price, atmosphere and whatever else we wanted.

1. Pabst Blue Ribbon: A nice choice but nothing to write home about
2. Budweiser:
Like PBR but more expensive
3. Black Butte Porter:
A rich and distinctive feel that leaves you satisfied
4. Hefeweizen:
Reserved for the unique and distinguished, and good local connections do not hurt either

8.  Claudia’s Sports Bar and Grill
3006 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd.
Happy Hour: 11 am to Close, M-F and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. F-Sat.
Celebrating 50 years of service is good. Having a bar cam to inspect the scene is even better. Claudia’s is a perfect spot to get your weekend fix in.

7. Grand Central Station

Happy Hour: 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. M-F. 
With over 55,000 square feet of space and TVs in every nook and cranny, not to mention the Jumbotron for watching the Blazers, it’s easy to forget that this place is a bowling alley.

6. Sam’s Billiard’s
1845 N.E. 41st Ave.
Happy Hour: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., M-Sun.
With 13 billiard tables and breakfast served daily, this is the prefect spot for those early college football games on Saturday after a long Friday night.

5. Tom’s Pizza and Sports Bar
2630 N. Lombard St.
Happy Hour: 9 p.m. to close, M-Sun.
Good pizza, 20 beers on tap and free Wi-Fi for up-to-the-minute information on your team are just some of the nice features that Tom’s provides. It’s a wonder people don’t go missing in this place.

4. On-Deck Sports Bar
910 N.W. 14th St.
Happy Hour: 8 p.m. to close, Sun. – Th. and 9 p.m. to close, F-Sat.
While it is great that On Deck features a 10,000-square-foot deck, it only gets used about three months out of the year. Inside, however, the patrons enjoy the action on one of nearly 100 televisions.

3. Mulligan’s Bar and Grill

Happy Hour: All Day, Th. and Sat. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. other days
What it lacks in size and TVs it makes up with Happy Hour all-day Saturdays and Thursdays, Yes, you heard correctly, all day Saturday.

2. The Cheerful Bullpen

Happy Hour: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., M-F
Besides being part of The Cheerful family of bars, this place is home to some of the fiercest and most loyal fans in Portland: the Timbers Army. The Army swarms the Bullpen before and after every Timbers game.

1. The Cheerful Tortoise
The real center of campus: 1939 S.W. 6th Ave.
Happy Hour: When are you not happy being here?
If you haven’t gotten the $2 breakfast here, then you haven’t experienced the best Portland State has to offer. Period. Nonetheless, the Tortoise is one of the busiest and best sports bars in a city full of drinkers. Be sure to check out theme nights or the Ondine residents engage in some karaoke.
