An article about the Student Fee Committee’s budgeting process yesterday mischaracterized the funding situation of the Spectator, Portland State’s conservative commentary magazine. Because Spectator Editor Shah Smith did not attend the committee’s "budget school" training, the magazine’s budget was not considered at all during the initial funds allocation hearings.
The article also incorrectly reported that Smith was appointed editor after the budget training had occurred. In fact, Smith was appointed editor on Nov. 1 and budget training occurred Nov. 2.
