Runner stopped

Donald Kline, 49, ran when officers approached him at Southwest Broadway and Jackson Street at 2 p.m. March 31. He left several unopened beers behind.

Officers caught up with Kline, a transient, and checked him for warrants.

He was found to be on probation, and his probation officer asked that he be detained. He was lodged at the Multnomah Country Detention Center.

Drug bust

Logan Robinson, 23, was discovered camping behind a storage container near Peter Stott Center at 1:30 p.m. March 31. He was found in possession of a syringe with suspected heroin. He was cited for drug possession and released.

Stolen stuff

At 5 p.m. March 31, a bicycle and cable lock worth $315 were taken from a bike rack on the west side of Neuberger Hall.

Someone broke into a vehicle in Parking Structure Three sometime between March 31 and April 1. The thief broke a rear passenger window, causing damage estimated at $370.

A bicycle and lock valued at $425 was taken from a bike rack by Cramer Hall at Southwest Park Avenue and Montgomery Street about 9 a.m. April 3.

The same day, about 8 a.m., a thief took a bicycle and lock from the rack at the north side of Peter Stott Center. The loss was valued at $370.

There was no sign of forced entry when a projector was stolen from a locked storage room in the basement of Neuberger Hall about 8 p.m. March 6. The theft was reported April 3. The equipment’s value was $4,595.

A bicycle worth $200 was taken from a 1996 Plymouth Voyager van parked in the basement of Parking Structure Three. The thief broke two side windows to gain entry. The incident occurred about 10 p.m. April 4.

Lot encounter

Officers responded to the complaint of a violent assault and approached the suspect in the Ondine parking lot at 4 p.m. April 4. Dustin Hummel, 21, was found to have an outstanding warrant for probation violation on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was transported to the detention center.

Smith rumble

At about 6:30 p.m. April 4, officers responded to a report of two men fighting on the second floor of Smith Memorial Student Union.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with minor injuries and the suspect departed. The victim said he did not want to press charges against the suspect, who is a transient.

Sleeper awakened

Timothy Blackwood, 41, was awakened by officers at 12:30 p.m. April 5, as he slept in a second-floor lounge at Smith Memorial Student Union. A records check showed he had a warrant for resisting arrest. He was transported to the detention center.

Arson frustrated

An automatic fire alarm signal at 3:30 a.m. April 6 alerted officers to respond to the sixth floor of the Ondine. They discovered a smoldering pair of child’s jeans in front of the elevators. The officers stamped out the smoldering material.

Later, burned material also was found on the fourth and fifth floors. The Portland Fire Bureau and an arson investigator were called in.

Camper ousted

Tyra Johnson, 28, a transient, was found camping on the west side of Hoffman Hall at 8:30 a.m. April 6. Officers wakened him and ascertained he appeared to be under the influence of heroin.

He was found in possession of a syringe with suspected heroin residue. He was cited for drug possession and released.

Recognized faces

A CPSO officer saw a familiar face on the second floor of Smith Memorial Student Union at 11:15 a.m. April 7. Robert Kennedy, 54, was found to have a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of criminal trespass.

While being transported to the detention center, he was found to have drug paraphernalia in his possession. He received additional charges of drug possession and supplying contraband in a correctional facility.
