On February 14, 2017, Portland Abbey Arts in North Portland plays host to the Round. Three musicians will join a slam poet to perform rounds of music and poetry while a visual artist paints.
On the second Tuesday of the month though July 2017, three songwriters and a slam poet share the stage with additional musicians occasionally joining in. A visual artist depicts their experience of this interweaving of music and poetry, thus creating a singular collaborative evening experience shared by the audience and the artists. This monthly arts gathering originated at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center in Seattle and has since established a presence in Portland. The February round features singers Vega Black, Joel Swensen, Andy Justicia Etienne; poet The Abby Owen; and visual artist Carla Bartow.
The Portland Round is held at the Portland Abbey ‘Undercroft’ (Lower Level) on 7600 N. Hereford Avenue in Portland, OR 97203. Doors open at 7:15pm with the show starting at 8pm. All ages. $5.00, ticket at the door.
