CHINA Town Hall 2014 presents a webcast starting at 4 PM with former US President Jimmy Carter providing an update on US-China relations. From 5 PM, attend a public talk by China expert and Political Science professor at University of Nevada, Reno, Dr. Xiaoyu Pu, who will speak on “Maritime Disputes in the East and South China Seas and Impact on U.S. China Relations.”

by Dr. Xiaoyu Pu from the Univ. of Nevada, Reno.

The East and South China Seas are the scene of escalating territorial disputes between China and its neighbors, including Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The tensions, shaped by China’s growing assertiveness, have fueled concerns over armed conflict and raised questions about the United States’ security commitments in its strategic rebalance toward the Asia-Pacific region.
