Students needing to make extra money part-time and get valuable career experience and good references are invited to become part-time security guards, usually working evenings and weekends and then various festivals in summer. The security companies we work with emphasize de-escalation. The State of Oregon requires security guards to pass an 8-hour course, a 4-hour walk around assessment, and a criminal background check. Because of popular demand, the course will be given every day through March 4. The government fees are $135, and the class fees are $100, for a total of $235. For the month of March, graduates of the course will be given a free add-on course in defensive tactics, a $150 value. Pre-registration is essential.
