Portland State University’s chapter of ΣΤΔ is offering critical and creative writing workshops to all PSU students. The student-run workshops will provide insightful and professional feedback on both academic papers and creative writing pieces. Please take advantage of these critical workshops, to prepare your work for submission and to gain insights into your own writing process.
Writers: The workshops will review pieces on a first-come first-serve basis. Academic essays, as well as fiction, non-fiction, and poetry submissions are welcome. Submissions are limited to five pages, with excerpts from longer pieces allowed. You will hear what others have to say about your writing, and you will have the option to read your work and practice your public speaking before a very supportive group.
Participants: The workshops will be conducted in the same manner that would be expected at a graduate or professional level. Only the critical elements of academic papers will be analyzed: structure, clarity, etc. Creative writing pieces will be reviewed strictly within the elements of craft: characterization, rhythm, etc. Not only will you build critiquing skills, you will be helping your fellow students and improving your writing techniques.
Workshops will take place every Friday in 407 Neuberger Hall:
