Freshman catcher Brandi Scoggins was announced as one of three Pacific Coast Softball Conference co-freshmen of the year recipients last Tuesday.

Freshman catcher Brandi Scoggins was announced as one of three Pacific Coast Softball Conference co-freshmen of the year recipients last Tuesday.

The 5-foot-8 Chino, Calif. native led the Viks with a .336 batting average, adding 27 RBIs and one homer. Scoggins struck out a team-low 18 times at the plate, which earned her a .422 on base percentage. She led the Vikings in doubles with 13 and had a .454 slugging percentage.

Catching behind the plate, Scoggins had a .997 fielding percentage, committing only one error on the year. She was also fearsome in throwing out potential base stealers, halting runners on 73.7 percent of stolen base attempts.

Utility hitter/pitcher Mandy Hill and sophomore second baseman Shannon Stacy were also all named to the All-PCSC second team. Along with the second teamers, senior outfielder Kimi Daniel, sophomore infielder Jamee Rauch and sophomore first baseman Jana Rae Slayton earned honorable mentions.
