Chips and salsa is a go-to dish for any party. It’s fresh, vegetarian friendly and great for snacking. But why not give your next gathering a twist with fresh fruit salsa and sweet cinnamon chips? It’s simple to prepare and every bit as crunchy and delicious.
The salsa part of this recipe can act on its own as a crisp fruit salad. If you’re looking to make this dish a little more dessert-like, try tossing in 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips and replace your orange juice with vanilla yogurt. The best thing about this fruit salsa is that your ingredients can change with the fruits in season.
Ingredients
2 tart apples
2 ripe pears
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1 celery stalk
1/2 cup red grapes
3 tbsp. orange juice
2 tbsp. brown sugar
8 flour tortillas
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice tortillas into triangles and lay out on a baking sheet. Brush tortillas with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar and ground cinnamon. Cook in center rack for 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly browned, then remove and let cool.
Core and chop apples and pears. Finely chop walnuts. Slice red grapes in half. Finely slice celery. Combined apples, pears, walnuts, celery, grapes and orange juice in a bowl and toss. Add brown sugar and toss once more.
Serve with side of baked cinnamon chips and snack on!
