While many players christened their new football cleats, gloves and pads at practice on Monday, the football team was also able to use their new locker room inside the Stott Center.
Built adjacent to the old locker room, the new room features carpet, two plasma televisions and over 100 individual lockers set in four different sections of the room, each named after a former Portland State head coach. Don Read, Darrell “Mouse” Davis, Pokey Allen and Tim Walsh each have their own quadrant.
The director of new business development in the athletic department, Dennis Ferguson, led the fundraising effort on the project raising an estimated $225,000.
“This is really a nice addition to the building and a great step forward for the football program,” athletic director Torre Chisholm said.
