New dog screens tonight
The documentary The Price of Sugar will be screened tonight in Smith Memorial Student Union, room 327/328, at 6 p.m.
The film, narrated by Paul Newman, explores the living conditions of Haitian migrant workers on sugar plantations in the Dominican Republic and focuses on the humanitarian efforts of a Spanish priest, Father Christopher Hartley.
Marylhurst University professor David McNamee will be on hand to speak at the free event.
According to a PSU press release, the event will also include information on what consumers can do to lessen their indirect participation in the working conditions on the plantations.

Rec center forum today
Campus Recreation will host an information session on plans for incorporating sustainability into the design of the under-construction new Student Rec Center, today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attendees at the open house will have the opportunity to look over drawings and plans, and there will be a question and answer session with Campus Rec staff and architects on the building’s sustainability. The event will be held in Smith Memorial Student Union, room 238.
Campus Rec Director Alex Accetta said this meeting will be not only informational for the community, but will also let people voice their opinions on building sustainably. Refreshments will be provided, along with a raffle for Campus Rec prizes.
