Intramural football championships
The Portland State intramural spring football league ended last Saturday in a nail-biting, down-to-the-wire championship game.
After a back-and-forth scoring bout the Red Raiders ousted the Turf Sharks to take the intramural championship. The Raiders had the ball with only 50 seconds left on the clock and 40 yards to travel before hitting pay dirt in the end zone. The Turf Sharks’ stout defense ate up the Raiders clock and allowed only one completion to put them at the 15-yard line. After some referee confusion and an issue with the stopwatch, the Raiders held two seconds and one final play to take the intramural championship t-shirts home to momma. Quarterback C.T. Truong rolled out and hit a wide open Andrew Rice for the game-winning touchdown for a final score of 52-47
For the rest of the term, intramurals will be devoted to Friday night softball, starting May 11 at 5:30 p.m. The first weekend will be available for teams to be formed with league play starting the following week.
