A bit excessive
I just wanted to send a quick note about the article regarding the Elections Board hearing [“ASPSU candidates investigated before campaigning begins,” April 12]. I’m currently the treasurer of the Student Veterans Association and was in attendance at the meeting that is being called into question.
I was pretty shocked to hear it got to the point of a hearing at all, that seemed a bit excessive for what actually happened. To us it seemed like a push for us to get the word out to the students we support and to encourage them to be a part of the democratic process. After a direct question about whether he was running he gave us a direct answer.
It never felt to me like a sales pitch to vote specifically for him, and in fact, his excitement and encouragement about the elections made the officers within our group consider trying to get a veteran into the senate to have a voice.
