Portland State head basketball coach Joel Sobotka has announced the signing of John Glaser to a national letter of intent for the 2001-02 academic year.
Glaser, a sophomore-to-be from Arizona (Cochise Community College), will be utilized as the Vikings’ floor leader. The 5-10 point guard led his Junior College team to a 28-6 record last year. Cochise was the ACCAC and Region I champion, advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament where they were eliminated by number one-ranked Dixie JC.
Glaser averaged 7.5 assists per game as a freshman at Cochise. He shot 45 percent from the field and 73 percent at the line, averaging 4.7 points per game. “John brings great basketball sense to this point guard position,” Sobotka stated in a recent press release. “His ability to make his teammates better players is his greatest strength.”
Originally from Tucson, Ariz., Glaser attended Salpointe High School. He will join four other signees with the Vikings next fall.
