Men’s basketball preview

The Vikings have started conference play at the top of the Big Sky standings having won their first three of this season and 17 straight dating back to last season.

Stars: Weber State guard Kellen McCoy is one of the strongest point guards in a conference full of talented point guards. The senior had a 23-point game in the Wildcats victory last week over Northern Colorado.

For the Vikings, it’s a group of talented perimeter players in seniors Jeremiah Dominguez and Andre Murray and juniors Dominic Waters and Phil Nelson. Waters is coming off a 41-point performance of the season and could make his third start of the year.

Traditionally, Weber State has been the top team in the Big Sky Conference having made more NCAA Tournament appearances in the past 10 years than any other team in the conference. The Wildcats hold an 18-9 series advantage over Portland State.
