Men’s golf heads down the stretch
The Portland State men’s golf team started spring season in full swing and competed in two tournaments in March. With one week remaining until the Big Sky Championship in St. George, Utah on April 23-25, the squad prepares for competitive play.
The team competed in both the Sacramento State Invitational and Oregon Duck Invitational to start the spring campaign. On March 11-12, the Vikings battled against six other teams in Sacramento. The top finishers for the Vikings were senior Brodie Jordan, 76-75-74: 225 (22nd) and senior Tyler Daniels (27th, 227). Portland State, as a team, placed seventh out of seven total teams at 303-300-307: 910.
On March 25 and 26, the Vikings participated at the Oregon Duck Invitational. Individually, junior Josh Swanson had the best finish for a Viking with 70-74-73: 217 (19th). Another junior, Doug Nelson placed 29th overall with 76-73-71: 220. The Vikings, as a team, placed tenth out of the field of 16, shooting 294-299-300: 893. The Ducks, who hosted the tournament, were able to win by one stoke over Washington State.
