The Oregon Students of Color Coalition, a local race-advocacy group, will celebrate its 10th anniversary this Friday at Portland State.

The Oregon Students of Color Coalition (OSCC) is Oregon’s only advocacy group for students of color that has statewide support. The group focuses on providing access to post-secondary educational opportunities for people of color.

Faculty, students, alumni, various policy makers and community members will make up the list of attendees at the event, which will feature guest speakers as well as discussions over progress the OSCC has made since its inception.

Susan Castillo, the state superintendent of public instruction, and Kalpana Krishnamurthy, personnel at the local advocacy organization Western States Center, will be honored at the event. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The OSCC will also be accepting donations for continuing developments in leadership and training programs for students of color, as well as raising funds for the upcoming Oregon Students of Color conference.

The event will be held Friday, Nov. 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Multicultural Center in room 228 of Smith Memorial Student Union.
