Portland State’s Transportation and Parking Services announced an upcoming Max Light Rail and Streetcar disruption scheduled to take place between April 30 and May 20, 2017. The scheduled improvement project will affect all regular Max Light Rail services downtown for the MAX Blue, Red, and Green lines, including the Portland Streetcar.
PSU students who rely on the MAX Red line will not be able to access the west side of Portland, as the Red line will only run between Portland International Airport and PSU via Southwest 5th and 6th avenues.
The MAX Blue line will only run between Gresham and PSU and between Hillsboro Providence Park; MAX Green line will run between Clackamas Town Center and the Rose Quarter Transit Center, while the MAX Orange and Yellow lines will be largely unaffected.
Shuttle buses provided by TriMet will be available to commuters in order to connect riders between the Providence Park MAX Station and the Rose Quarter TC. According to PSU’s TPS announcement, Trimet shuttles are scheduled to run about every five minutes, but riders should include an additional 30–45 minutes to their daily commute.
In addition, access to the Portland Streetcar will be disrupted April 30 to May 13, 2017. Shuttle buses will replace the streetcar’s presence along Northwest 10th and 11th during this time frame.
Students who depend on the Streetcar to access PSU’s Collaborative Life Sciences Building are not expected to be significantly affected by the scheduled disruption.
