The leadoff single from Attack Decay Sustain Release is called “Tits and Acid”. Do I like tits? Absolutely. Do I like acid? Severe damage to my prefrontal cortex says “yes.” So it stands to reason that I will like this single, and by association this album… which is sort of true.

Simian Mobile Disco are remarkable in their dedication to making old-school techno, even to the point of using only analog sampling on their records, and it’s refreshing to listen to an album that announces with confidence, “I AM TECHNO MUSIC AND AS SUCH AM INTENDED TO BE DANCED TO.” Also, as it so happens, I’m currently going through a “shake your ass” phase and I find SMD’s bass heavy beats and rotating cast of guest vocalists to be a wonderful opportunity to “get down”. However, techno has a pretty marginal shelf life for the casual or sober listener and I can’t say whether this album will still be on my iPod come November. For the moment though, it’s serving as great inducement for me to get polluted and “hit the dance floor like a freak”.
