Culprits collared
A subject found in Parking 2 with burglar’s tools was given a criminal trespass warning at about 2 a.m. March 9. The matter was referred for internal handling.
Vu Huong, 17, was approached in Smith Memorial Student Union at 2 p.m. March 3 and found to be a wanted runaway juvenile and on a shoplifting charge. He was taken into juvenile custody.
Laura Close, 23, a student, was caught shoplifting sushi from the SMSU food court at 2 p.m. March 12. Aramark declined to press charges. Close was given a verbal trespass from the food court.
Donald Polk, 44, was arrested in SMSU at 8:25 a.m. March 18 and escorted to jail on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a theft charge.
Dwelling doings
Cited and released for falsely pulling a fire alarm in university housing March 3 was Connell Cambron, 20, a transient who was not in residence in the facility and is not a student. He was given a criminal trespass warning.
Cambron was again found trespassing in university housing at 9 p.m. March 6. He was cited for criminal trespass and released.
A parking permit was stolen from a vehicle in university housing parking about 9 a.m. February 27. It was valued at $240.
A subject yelling at residents in a university housing building brought officers to the scene soon after 1 a.m. March 9. The matter was handled internally.
Graffiti appeared on the door of a university housing facility at 6 p.m. March 9. The incident was listed as criminal mischief.
An unknown person sprayed graffiti on a university housing building and a mailbox March 4. Paint was found on the back-side of a university housing structure at 5:30 p.m. March 16.
A residence life staff member requested assistance regarding noise at about 2 p.m. March 14.
At 3 p.m. March 16, officers received a complaint of a beer bottle being thrown from a window in university housing.
Unfriendly actions
Action is pending on a domestic violence complaint in an off-campus incident March 4. The suspect allegedly assaulted the complainant with an unknown object, causing injury.
Someone broke a window in a car parked in Parking 1 about 6:15 p.m. March 6. The incident was listed as criminal mischief. A similar incident occurred in Parking 3 about 1:15 p.m. March 15.
Officers received a complaint that a person had been subjected to obscene gestures in SMSU at 9 p.m. March 10.
Officers received a complaint of inappropriate touching and advances in Peter Stott Center at 9 p.m. March 12. The incident is being investigated.
Someone spray-painted words on the back-side of the West Heating plant some time March 18.
Pilfered possessions
An unattended purse was stolen from an office in Smith Memorial Student Union about 3 p.m. March 5. The loss was $90.
Another unattended purse was stolen from a desk in the same building at about 1 p.m. March 6. The loss was $219.
A purse containing $120 was stolen out of a book bag on the second floor of Millar Library March 4 about 11:20 a.m.
A personal digital assistant, was stolen out of a jacket pocket in Millar Library about 11 a.m. March 5. It was valued at $400.
An unknown person removed items from a vehicle in Parking 3 about 7 p.m. March 6. Entry was forced. There was no estimate of loss.
An office in Lincoln Hall was missing items worth $20 after an unknown person climbed over a wall to gain access. The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. February 24.
Someone stole a parking permit from inside a vehicle in Parking 1 about 9 a.m. March 8. The value was $189.
A secured bicycle worth $650 was stolen from a rack near Millar Library about 8:45 a.m. March 10.
An unnamed suspect tried to steal a laptop computer in SMSU at 1:40 p.m. March 9 but he was confronted five minutes later and surrendered the computer.
A complainant reported being assaulted and robbed on campus at about 2:30 a.m. March 14. There was no estimate of loss.
An unattended laptop computer was taken off a desk in Science 2 about 10 a.m. March 11. It was worth $3,000.
A vehicle parked in Parking 3 was broken into about 9:30 a.m. March 15. A camera worth $25 was stolen.
An unlocked office in the Fourth Avenue Building yielded a $1,700 computer to a thief about 8:30 p.m. March 16.
An unattended office in Cramer Hall gave up a laptop computer to a thief about 11 a.m. March 17. The value was $2,400.
A car trunk in Parking 3 was broken into about 4 p.m. March 17 and items worth $200 were taken.
Items valued at $80 were taken after entry was forced into a locked office in SMSU about 1 p.m. March 19.
A vehicle in Parking 3 was broken into and personal property valued at $40 was taken about 8:15 a.m. March 20.
