The Oregon University System approved the majority of this spring’s proposed fee hikes at universities around the state, including new program resource fees at Portland State.
Portland State students in the Business Honors Program will pay $100 per term, and students in the Graduate School of Social Work will pay $25 per credit hour for distance education. The Engineering and Computer Science resource fee jumped 60 percent from $250 to $400.
Though Portland State students will generally spend less on fees than they would at other Oregon public universities, next year, fees for 2005-06 have only moved one direction – up.
PSU has the highest health fee of $122 per term and the lowest incidental fee of $137.
PSU’s student services resource fee, $5 from its inception in 2003, rose to $7.50 per term. The fee was a source of contention between student leaders and Vice Provost for Student Affairs Doug Samuels, who proposed raising the fee to $9 without student consultation.
