PSUSU calls for mass numbers at board meeting

In the past year, PSU Student Union has protested tuition rate increases and armed campus officers, among other university polices.

The Portland State Student Union—PSUSU—a group that describes itself on its website as, “a union of Portland State students founded on the principles of horizontality, equality, and direct democracy,” released the following statement last night at 9:25 p.m:

“[PSUSU] will be arriving in mass numbers to the Thursday, March 31st Board of Trustees meeting at 1:00 p.m. in the PSU Recreation Center ASRC Room 515.

This is in response to the looming vote on a 4.5 [percent] raise in tuition, the continuation of poverty wages being paid to those working on campus and the continued silencing of student voices with the growth of the campaign to disarm campus security, ‪#‎DisarmPSU‬.

Alongside PSUSU members will be other students, PSU faculty, PSU staff, and many members of the Portland community not connected to Portland State. We ask that all media be present at the meeting to capture these events as they unfold, and for community support.

Signed,

The Portland State University Student Union (PSUSU)”
