Pub Board hires leaders for student-run publications

The Student Publications Board has hired the leaders of its four student-run publications and its student-run graphic design service for the 2007-2008 academic year, beginning June 16.

The Student Publications Board has hired the leaders of its four student-run publications and its student-run graphic design service for the 2007-2008 academic year, beginning June 16.

After interviews on Friday, April 13, the board hired:

–Andrea Brandtner, a senior majoring in graphic design, as manager of the Graphic Design Center, a graphics service for students, university departments and others. –Josh Gross, a senior majoring in liberal studies and current editor of The Rearguard, as editor of The Rearguard, an alternative monthly newspaper. –Patrick Haas, a graduate master’s candidate in creative writing, as editor of the Portland Review, a thrice-yearly literary review. –David Holley, a senior majoring in English, as editor of the Vanguard, the daily general-interest newspaper. –Teresa Lopez, a freshman English and political science major, as editor of the Portland Spectator, a conservative monthly magazine.

The Publications Board, composed of tenured faculty, staff, professional and student members, oversees all student publications. After it appoints editors and the manager to their positions, the board gives the student leaders responsibility for their operations.
