Music by Persian singer Hameed blared and dozens danced to the hypnotic sounds as the second annual Persian Night took over the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom Thursday night.

The night was planned by the Arab-Persian Student Organization and also featured a Persian buffet and a raffle.

“[The hope was] to bring a little cultural awareness of Persian Culture,” said Rebekah Chitsaz, APSO president and ASPSU vice president-elect. “The main event is music. Next year will be expanded.”

Chitsaz said the event was prepared to see 200 people over the course of the evening.

“I think we had a pretty good turnout,” Chitsaz said. “It was nice to see the Persian community come out.”
