At Tuesday’s Senate meeting, it was announced that a meditation and prayer space will open in 47 Smith Memorial Student Union on May 3. ASPSU has been pushing for the creation of the space for several months. 

 

Elections Board

As of print time, more than 1,150 students have voted in the annual elections. According to Elections Board Chair Ari Wubbold, the board’s lofty goal of 2,800 votes, or 10 percent of Portland State’s student population, is unlikely to be met. However, he noted that voter turnout has substantially increased over last year’s numbers.

Members of PSU Recycles! led a presentation on the water bottle refill stations on campus. The group, which hopes to eliminate the sales of bottled water on campus, informally requested funding to install several more refill stations on campus. Though the Senate set no official plans in motion, a straw poll was taken, proving unanimous support from the Senate in favor of the initiative. ?
