At the Student Senate’s Tuesday meeting, ASPSU President Katie Markey discussed Senate Bill 405, a bill that would allow Oregon universities to establish an armed police force on state campuses. According to Markey, the Oregon Students Association, along with the University of Oregon, has taken a stance against this bill.

The ASPSU executive branch announced that new staff members are preparing to take over duties in their newly elected positions. Next year’s executive staff will begin on June 1. The job descriptions for new executive members are being decided on and finalized as well. These positions will be appointed by president-elect Adam Rahmlow at the beginning of his term.

Elections Board:

According to Elections Board Chair Ari Wubbold, the E-board is compiling a new elections manual for future E-boards. He also thanked the student body and the Senate for a successful election.

Judicial Board:

The Judicial Board announced that it is in the process of reviewing the by-laws for the Senate, the Student Fee Committee and the E-board. They are also reviewing the 22 changes that will be amended in the constitution next year. ?
