An allegation of sexual assault at the Ondine residence hall was reported early this Saturday morning, October 11.
Sergeant Brian Schmautz, public information officer for Portland Police Bureau, confirmed that they received a call reporting an alleged sexual assault at approximately 3:46 a.m. The officer dispatched cleared the call without taking any action at 4:33 a.m.
Schmautz said that Portland State’s Campus Public Safety Office (CPSO) is handling the investigation.
Lieutenant Craig Whitten of CPSO would not comment on the investigation, as it is on-going and a “confidential case.”
He confirmed his office received a call about a possible sexual assault and that an arrest was made in conjunction with the investigation. He also stated that it occurred on campus.
Although CPSO is handling the case apart from the Portland Police Bureau, Whitten stated that they were receiving assistance from PPB detectives and the District Attorney’s office.
