Sodexho to manage Meetro Caf퀌

New Ondine dining hall, University Place also among venues to be managed by new service provider

In addition to replacing Aramark July 1 as the food service provider in the main dining area in the Smith student union, Sodexho may take control of other food venues on campus.

Included in Sodexho’s proposal to the university are the Ondine dining hall slated to open in fall, Subway, University Place and the Meetro Caf.

College Housing Northwest has managed the Meetro for four years, but PSU will take control of the coffee house in June.

Little is known about what Sodexho’s plans are for these venues, but assistant director of auxiliary services John Eckman says they would like to “maintain the feel” of the Meetro’s casual coffee shop atmosphere.

There has also been talk of placing kiosks in busy areas around campus to provide food to students in the evening.

The contract between Sodexho and PSU should be finalized in the next few days, Eckman said.
