Giger earns Big Sky Honors

Joell Giger, goalie for the Portland State women’s soccer team, was named Big Sky defensive player of the week. This honor comes after Portland State’s back-to-back shutouts last weekend of Wyoming and Air Force. In those two games, Giger had five saves to lock in the shutouts. The junior goalie currently has gone 249:57 without allowing a goal. She leads the Big Sky with three solo shutouts and with a 0.94 goals against average. Giger has a total of 3.5 shutouts, the most by a PSU goalie since 1996.

Volleyball team to face Eastern Washington

The Portland State volleyball team (5-4) will take on the nationally ranked Eastern Washington Eagles this Friday in the Peter Stott Center.

The match begins at 7 p.m.
