Familiar flaws for Vikings basketball
Portland State’s cold streak continued this weekend as two more defeats extended the Vikings losing streak to eight games, the longest winless streak in a decade for the men’s basketball team. After dropping their latest games on the road against Northern Arizona University and California State University, Sacramento, head coach Tyler Geving’s crew is now 0-12 on the road in 2012–13 and has gone a full calendar year since their last win away from the Stott Center. With two road games remaining, the Vikings are at risk of becoming just the second team in school history to go winless on the road for an entire season.
Vikings bounce back with win
The Portland State women’s basketball team fell to the top-ranked University of Montana Lady Griz last Thursday, but learned from their mistakes and came back to beat the Montana State University Bobcats two days later. The Vikings led at halftime against the Lady Griz, but went cold in the second, and Montana pulled ahead for the victory. On Saturday, the Vikings hit some clutch free throws down the stretch to win 75-72. Excellent shooting and teamwork were keys to the Viking victory.

Vikings fall to Southern Utah
After losing to Southern Utah University on Thursday night, the men’s basketball team remained winless on the road this season. Despite strong play from Aaron Moore and Lateef McMullan, Portland State was dominated down low as they continue to struggle with injuries in their frontcourt. Key contributor Renado Parker continued his comeback from an ankle injury but played limited minutes in the loss.
Vikings falter against Eagles
The Portland State women’s basketball team was active on the boards against Eastern Washington University on Monday, out-rebounding their opponents 43-36, but it was not enough to hold off their Dam Cup rivals as the Eagles beat the Vikings 68-56 on Monday.
Vikings come back strong

Vikings outgunned in Grand Forks
This was the stretch that men’s basketball coach Tyler Geving dreaded most when the schedule was released before the season. “The road trip from Greeley, [Colo.] to North Dakota is going to be a long one,” Geving said in September during a preseason interview. “I have a feeling North Dakota’s going to be pretty good at home.”
