“Touch the Sound” 7 p.m. nightly, 1, 3 p.m. Sat.-Sun.

A documentary about the connections between time, life and sound. I, for one, always thought that Time-Life collections were horrible, tinny platters of rehashed reissues that couldn’t be sold on their own – or already had to the point of fecundity. But what do I know? Apparently my roommate’s Time-Life collection of the great composers of history is capable of inducing near religious experiences in the initiated.

“Dorian Blues” 8:45 p.m. nightly, 10:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 5 p.m. Sat-Sun.

The story of coming out – told like it was the very first time.

Cinemagic
2021 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd.

"Grizzly Man" 9:45 p.m. nightly, 3 p.m. Sun.

No, it’s not about little-known D.C. Comics hero Grizzly Man, master of static electricity. It’s actually a heartwarming tale about a man, the woman who loves him and the grizzly that eats them both.

Clinton St. Theater
2522 S.E. Clinton St.
503-238-8899

“Kamikaze Girls” 9 p.m., 5 p.m. Sat.-Sun.

Japanese gang movies rule. Mostly because all of the thugs scoot around on mopeds. While not particularly churlish, the ducklike-shape that anyone’s torso takes on while riding a motor scooter is worth a barrel of laughs.

“24 Hours on Craigslist” 7 p.m., 3 p.m. Sat.-Sun.

Inside the newspaper-classified-section-destroying free online list. Yes, you can buy that on Craigslist.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” 12 a.m. Sat.

I’m out of jokes. It really is that movie.

Guild Theater
829 S.W. Ninth Ave.
503-221-1156

"Shorts I" 7 p.m. Fri. Nov. 4

Eleven shorts from around the Northwest – most of which are from Portland – are showcased, including a They Might Be Giants video that just might be clever.

Moreland Theater
6712 S.E. Milwaukie Ave.
503-236-5257

"Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-rabbit" 5:30, 7:30 p.m. nightly, 1:30, 3:30 Sat-Sun.

It’s the Halloween movie that weathered the storm of “Saw II” and lived to tell about it. Told in fey, stuff-nosed British accents.
