Vice provost to leave PSU

Dr. Mike Driscoll, vice provost for Academic Personnel and Budget, will leave Portland State this month after years of work at the university. Driscoll will take a position as provost at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

At PSU, Driscoll oversees departments as various as academic employment and the university academic budget. After PSU suffered $3 million in net budget cuts for the 2006-07 fiscal year, Driscoll played a large role in shuffling the university budget to compensate for the deficit.

At PSU, Driscoll has worked with the American Association of University Professors, the American Federation of Teachers Union and is on the board of directors of the Business Education Compact.

A farewell party for the longtime administrator will take place on May 16, before he moves to the slightly smaller 17,000-student University of Alaska Anchorage.
