Bollywood-themed Indian Night this Sunday?
The Indian Student Association (ISP) is hosting its sixth annual Sanskriti Indian Cultural Night this Sunday from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom. A Bollywood event theme will intertwine Sanskrit traditions and modern ideas.
The purpose of the night is to bring the community together and showcase Indian culture through food, art, dance and music, according to ISA President Sai Kashyap Nutulapati.
“Art imitates life,” Nutulapati said. “Our culture is all about art and we hope to share that with the community.”
Many Indians from the local community are donating decorations and food.
The night’s schedule includes traditional and modern performances and each state of India will be represented by a different dance move. The Bollywood Rockers, a dance group, are booked to make an appearance.
A romantic skit will be part of the event, as well as two 15-minute documentaries about Indian culture, a stand-up comedy show by Dan Nainan and a fashion show featuring Indian 2011 collections.
Celebrated Bollywood mixer DJ Anshul, a favorite figure at past India nights, will play music derived from India’s club scene.
Tickets are available at the PSU Box Office. General admission is $10 and the student price is $8. ?
