Big-Ass Sandwiches

You won’t leave hungry from this place. Like the name implies, these are some seriously large sandwiches. The sandwiches have creative and fitting names like the Gut Bomb or the Pork Hammer; plus, you can add extra delights like grilled vegetables to any order.  The homemade coleslaw is a great side and the owners are always friendly and fun to talk with. It can be a bit expensive, though, especially if you’ve just spent all your money on drinks.

Serving up yummy pies (which I think we can all agree are fun to eat) of all kinds, and not just for dessert. The menu includes BBQ beef pies, chicken potpies and even vegan pies. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then order a one of their many fruit or berry pies, or you can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate chip. Not a huge selection, but what they have is great.

Home of the original waffle sandwiches in Portland. Creations include sausage and maple, ham and Gouda, maple pecan, peanut butter and jelly and plenty of other choices. They also have vegan options and serve a nice cup of coffee as well. On busy nights, the wait can be especially long.

Potatoes galore and a humorously painted cart makes waiting in line all the more fun. Chili cheese fries with tasty dipping sauces and the fries are always crispy and flavorful. The menu is easy to choose from as well—small or large cone. But with all the cheese and salt, it’s probably not the healthiest option.

A small food cart that packs a big punch of flavor. A nice selection of traditional Mexican goodies, including tacos, burritos, enchiladas and more. Perhaps not first-class food, but it’s homemade, warm and made with a smile. And it’s inexpensive. Which is always nice.
