A marketplace for ideas
Students involved in the community development program at Portland State are participating in a symposium Friday to explore and present ideas and projects focusing on cooperative living, international development, urban redevelopment and more.
The symposium is based on the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) Talks, an annual conference featuring ideas on sustainability and new ways of living. It will feature 18 presentations from both Portland State and University of Washington students.
Nevin Freeman, a senior majoring in liberal studies, helped to spread the word for the event and share its purpose.
“We are looking to give undergraduates a forum to present their ideas and projects on community development, and to get peer feedback,” Freeman said.
The event will be held in the Fourth Avenue Building on Friday, May 22. Food For Thought, the sustainable, vegetarian café on the Portland State campus, will cater a free lunch and cupcake bar. The student with the winning project will receive a $300 cash prize.
