For a university that prides itself on progressivism and diversity, Portland State is readily demonstrating that advocacy at this institution is nothing more than a token endeavor. The university continues to overlook students who have disabilities by providing those students with only minimal assistance and funding the programs assisting them at scarcely functional levels.

The faculty senate established a new task force earlier this month examining faculty morale and participation at Portland State in order to gauge faculty opinion over decision-making power between faculty and administrators.

Senior guard Dezmon Harris recorded 21 points in the Wildcats’ win over Northern Colorado last week, including going 5 of 5 from beyond the three-point line. Harris is averaging 14.1 points per game in Big Sky competition. Senior center Scott Morrison was recognized as the Big Sky Player of the Week after averaging 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in two big road wins for the Vikings last week.
Women’s basketball preview
Two-time all-conference performer Sarah Tuomi leads the Wildcats in nearly every offensive category. The senior forward also ranks among the Big Sky elite in scoring, rebounding, free-throw percentage and three-pointers made. Sophomore point guard Tonya Schnibbe, who leads the Wildcats in assists per game, runs a Weber State offense that is limited, but efficient.

New transgender group focuses on activism
