The Portland Timbers pulled off an unprecedented 3-2 upset over Argentinian giants Boca Juniors in an international exhibition played at PGE Park on Saturday.

Portland State track and field athletes Nick Trubachik, Tony Crisofulli, Karene King and Joenisha Vinson competed at the NCAA West Regional competition held in Austin, Texas May 27–28, but all four narrowly fell short of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

As the spring term comes to an end, so does another round of Campus Rec’s intramural leagues. This term, the intramurals program organized outdoor soccer and flag football competitions, as well as an indoor basketball league.

Currently competing in the javelin throw at the NCAA West Track and Field Regional in Austin, Texas, Portland State senior Nick Trubachik is also qualified to compete in the decathlon event at the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, June 10–11.

Earlier this month the reigning Big Sky Conference’s regular season soccer champion Portland State wrapped up spring activities with a win over Western Oregon in the final scrimmage of the spring offseason.

The Outdoor Program, the division of Campus Rec that encourages students to get away from campus and into the great outdoors, is kicking off two excursions this weekend.
