PSU Impact Entrepreneurs host Elevating Impact Summit
The PSU Impact Entrepreneurs club held their first-ever Elevating Impact Summit in the Gerding Theater last Friday, bringing together more than 300 young entrepreneurs and students for a day of networking and panel discussions, and a shot at a $1,000 startup fund.
Tuition set to increase
In a 10-3 vote on Friday, the Oregon Board of Higher Education gave final approval for tuition increases at the Oregon University System’s seven campuses, including Portland State.
Suspects arrested in multiple springtime CPSO cases
The Portland State Campus Public Safety Office has made arrests in several criminal cases that occurred during spring quarter. One of the cases was a sexual assault that occurred on June 8 at 3:40 p.m. CPSO and the Portland Police Bureau responded to a report that a female student was followed from the transit mall into Neuberger Hall by an unknown suspect, who entered the elevator with the victim and then sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to strike the suspect, causing him to flee, and the victim was not physically injured.
PSU drops nearly 80 summer courses
Portland State’s administration last week officially cancelled 79 summer courses as part of an ongoing effort to reduce costs amid continuing budget pains faced by the university.
Class profile: ‘Personal Finance’
Each term, the School of Business Administration offers two or more sections of “Personal Finance,” a class currently taught by Brenda Eichelberger, instructor of management at Portland State.

For one grad, dreams come true
Graduating Portland State senior Faduma Ahmed-Ali will be accomplishing her dream this summer. She’ll return home to Kenya to help make the water in her country safer to drink. “I am a true believer [in] hard work, passion and dedication,” Ahmed-Ali said.
Inspiring innovation
Tom Kelley remembers taking the 19-mile drive down Interstate 10 in Los Angeles to school at the age of 14. On the way, he would pass a giant billboard that hung over the highway promoting whoever it was that was renting the space. He remembers passing it one day and seeing the board had been filled with a Nike advertisement featuring a fierce-looking Lester Hayes—then the cornerback for the Oakland Raiders.
Where can I find a job?
After spending four or more years at Portland State, most graduates have an idea of the resources available to them. But what about leading up to graduation? Or after? Last year, PSU merged the Career Center and the Undergraduate Advising and Support Center to create Advising and Career Services.
PSU receives national Climate Leadership Award for innovation in sustainability
Portland State received a 2013 Climate Leadership Award on Wednesday from Second Nature, a national nonprofit that works to create a healthy, just and sustainable society by transforming higher education.
