Emily Kay Garrick

Name: Emily Kay Garrick
Title: Student Body Vice President
Role at PSU: Head of Senate Mentor in the Freshman Inquiry Program

What goals have you set for this upcoming school year? Help the senate to be fabulous, help to create a sexual minority/queer resource center and to help to reinstate the Safe-walk program

What students should know about you? Hard one … I guess that I am always looking for the outside prospective of how we are doing here in the office. Feel free to stop me in the halls, unless I am running, that means I am really late for class. It happens too often I think!

What do you think students should know about PSU? It is a great school, there are amazing people all around you, take the time to get to know them and you will have a better college experience. Also, school is much more exciting when you are involved, take some of that spare time (I know there isn’t much) and see what the university has to offer besides classes.

Your favorite thing about PSU: The whole package: great people, great environment and a beautiful city to hang out in.

Your favorite place on campus: On a nice morning in the parks blocks in front of Smith with a good cup of coffee.

Accomplishment that you are most proud of: Putting myself through school so far!

Something that most people don’t know about you: I am addicted to tattoos.

In your office or at your desk, we’ll find: A bit of a mess, empty apple juice containers, pictures of people I love, tiger’s milk bars and lots of Post-it Notes.

Last great book you read: “Gender Shock: Exploding the Myths of Male and Female” by Phyllis Burke.

What CD is in your player right now?The Soundtrack to “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

Your favorite movie: Another hard one, I guess it would have to be “The Godfather I.”

What’s your favorite hobby, and why? Running around with my lab and beagle (Max and Maddie). Why? Because they love me unconditionally, and they are really cool dogs.
