Flamenco stomps into Lincoln Auditorium

Alejandro Granados, one of Spain’s preeminent flamenco dancers, will be the featured performer at the Lincoln Hall Auditorium Saturday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. The concert titled ���Amistad���� is presented by Flamenco de la Mision from San Francisco, Calif.

Granados, who presently is choreographer with the Compania Andaluza de Danza at the Lope de Vega Theatre in Seville, Spain will be accompanied by an international cast of highly talented flamenco professionals.

Singer Cristo Cortes will join Granados, along with Manuel Gutierrez, making his United States debut, will join Granados for this performance.Also taking the stage will be members of Portland���s Viviana and Company Flamenco.

Granados will also be teaching a weekend series of flamenco dance workshops Sept. 29 and 30. Classes will combine choreography as well as dance techniques. The beginning/ intermediate class is from 12 to 1 p.m. and the intermediate/ advanced class is from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be live guitar accompaniment for all the classes.
